Reviews of First Three Episodes Friday Night Lights Season 1
Articulate eyes, Full Hearts, Cant Lose!
I can't notice a strong enough word in my vocabulary to draw how spectacular and engrossing this show is. I remember when I beginning heard about it eight or so years ago when the show premiered. To be honest, after seeing the movie, I thought it would be cheesy and not all that good. After Breaking Bad ended, I needed a new show to watch and while searching for the all-time shows available on Netflix streaming, this was nigh the top of the list. And I can truly say fifty-fifty later watching something equally incredible as Breaking Bad, I think this prove is almost more than special in its own mode. It doesn't need violence and drugs to be entertaining. I remember right after watching the pilot, I couldn't stop and stayed up till seven am watching. It will pull you in that quickly, especially if y'all are a football fan. Not that you deceit watch information technology if you don't like football game or don't know much near it. I absolutely love football. Dear watching information technology and played it in high school. But football game is absolutely the least interesting aspect of this show. The commencement episode of the series goes through each 24-hour interval leading up to the starting time game of the season. After watching information technology I thought every episode would be that way. But after seeing the end of the pilot I realized the evidence is about much much more than than merely football. Football is only a properties.
The most important part of the show are the lives of the characters off the field, focusing on the head motorcoach and his wife and their daughter, as well every bit the players. He is more of a father figure to these players before he is a coach. The primary theme of the evidence is that people take dreams. It shows everyday problems that people face, which we can all chronicle to in 1 way or another. Then it shows these dreams can come true if you have someone who believes in yous and is willing to assist you until you achieve these dreams. The show creates these characters in a pretty cliche way. Only what makes the prove so swell is these characters are brought to life, making the viewer able to literally feel the emotions of these characters, fifty-fifty without words being spoken. For the near office, the acting is incredible by most of the cast. The way the show is shot makes you lot feel like you are in the room with these people. This show will motion your emotions and brand yous express mirth, weep, smile and cheer. There'south not many other shows out there that can hit yous with so many ranges of emotions. You actually feel similar you lot are a function of these peoples lives, and y'all really become connected to them. Yous are able to watch them alter with your own eyes. You will call back differently about life and football after watching it, I can guarantee that.

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Tin't Lose!
Fri Night Lights is so underrated it's ridiculous! It is an absolute astonishing testify! Even though the football story line is bang-up, information technology is so much more than that. If you read the reviews y'all'll see 90% of them are 9'south & 10's and most have one thing in common and that'southward that they didn't give it a gamble until years after it went off the air. In one case you offset watching you can't stop!

TV dramas don't come any improve!
Simply put, this is reality. If someone had affixed a photographic camera to my head, 24 hours a twenty-four hour period, when I was in loftier school, you couldn't have gotten a ameliorate picture of life. I know someone like every single grapheme in this testify. The story lines, the acting, the cast, couldn't exist whatsoever amend in this testify. For those who haven't made it to loftier school withal, in Texas, this is your future. Wonderful, wonderful drama. I didn't fifty-fifty hear about this testify (don't take fourth dimension for much Boob tube) until season 4. Watched one episode and I was hooked. Went out and bought every episode and sabbatum down and watched every one in near two days. Didn't want to plough it off. I had always thought that The Shield was the all-time show e'er on Telly....until I was introduced to this tremendous story near life.

ane of the finest shows, ever
I just recently became hooked on this show, having obsessed for perchance as well long about a sure metaphysical fantasy set on a desert island and virtually a certain stylish melodrama almost one homo's Mafia family unit. This prove has no gangland hits, no sixties nostalgia virtually Madison Avenue, no housewives( or chemistry teachers) dealing drugs, no musical numbers,no recondite references to Egyptian hieroglyphics or quantum physics. Yet despite all these terrible flaws,( clever sarcasm) information technology is a masterpiece. I am not anti-Lost. I enjoyed the show immensely, for all its flaws. Yet, this show is , in some ways, superior. It is, in fact a photo-realistic picture of life in a pocket-size town in Texas, beautifully written and wonderfully acted. I rank it with certain other shows that were disregarded and are now sadly forgotten by all but a few people with practiced taste: The Call To Glory, Homefront, and I'll Wing Away, amongst others. In some ways, this is a prove worthy of the gilt historic period of TV "sooial drama", Naked City, The Defenders, Mr. Novak, Ben Casey, The Fugitive( a social commentary bearded as a thriller), Road 66, Slattery's People and East Side W Side. Like the best episodes of those shows, Friday Night Lights offers more questions than answers. This show is one of the best always. I pray to a sometimes enigmatic providence that it does not perish from the airwaves.

One of the best shows ever
Incredible series that captures an authentic feeling of existence that immature age and all that life has to throw at y'all. The cast is superb! Total flawless. Bated from i of season 2's subplot involving a murder, this testify is merely an incredible experience. It tugs on so many emotions. This show is ageless

good picture show adapted every bit good Telly
Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) starts as loftier school football omnibus in Dillon, Texas. Football is everything and greatness is expected from the Panthers. Star quarterback Jason Street suffers a paralyzing injury. Overlooked 2d string quarterback Matt Saracen is forced to rise upward to the occasion.
Peter Berg adapts his successful 2004 movie into a TV show. It works quite well as a high school drama. The feel is just about perfect deriving much of it from the volume and movie hits. This is great classic loftier school drama. It really lasted v years. Its trouble started when the bear witness started losing characters due to loftier school graduation. They were able to rotate some new characters in, but shows like these always take trouble dealing with the lost of its bandage.

Everything in this show very practiced and best part is the quality of the show stand till to the last min of the last episode.

Admittedly 1 of the best serial on idiot box!
I'm not even a fan of football game but started watching this with my married woman and son. I've seen some excellent serial; Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Sopranos, Kingdom on Netflix, but I have to say, Friday Dark Lights is the absolute all-time by far! The writing is fantastic! The acting is 100% believable and the characters become like family. The portrayal of small town Texas is spot on. You lot feel for every state of affairs that arises. Each season gets progressively improve. There are many adult themes, only as an NBC series, it'southward okay for a younger audition. I honesty believe this is one of the most well-written and acted drama of all time. The football game games are exciting to watch, and filmed and edited brilliantly. I evidently can't say plenty well-nigh this series. Lookout information technology, and you'll see what I mean.

Bang-up evidence. So real!
I'm finishing upwards. Was downwards with a knee surgery and needed something that wasn't too dark and depressing. This is a damn skilful bear witness. I hate Lila though. She's is awful. Unlikeable in every single way. Tyra has shown she tin can act through it all. Mean, distressing, scared, funny and tough. She nailed them all. Lila is but a whiny baby, and every situation is acted out the same. That disgusting fake sugariness phonation and talking through her teeth. Jason Street should've stayed while Lila went. He was for sure one of my favorites. Tim is one of the chief reasons to proceed watching. He'southward prissy to wait at and can actually deed! Buddy is fat and greasy and sweaty merely plays his role well! Jitney and Mrs T are likable and real. Cant imagine anyone playing those roles ameliorate. Matt, well we all know a Matt. Reliable, sweet, artsy and without much confidence. Landry (pre psycho Todd from breaking bad, had no inkling he was in it)was amazing! Smash redeemed himself and I was happy he was effectually and I LOVE his momma. Homo, she was so believable in her role. Possibly a fleck too much drinking and screwing for 15 year olds they could've at to the lowest degree held off until they were a bit older. but a damn good show! Merely like in high school EVERYTHING is a cross to die on. And just like in a small town football takes precedent over EVERYTHING! Grades, kids, money you lot name it. Football is their simply reason to wake up each day and only means of survival for many. In my boondocks our football coach gets triple what any teacher does. It'south really sad actually. Then this show is very existent, beautifully shot, produced like none other and just nigh perfect. Except for that winey donkey minka Kelly. I know now why she never made it past this and others did. She was cast for her look and looks alone and they just didn't take her far enough. Not confronting these heavy hitters! All in all a really good drama, really good testify. One that will become you lot in the feels on near every episode. Glad I finally decided to watch information technology. And glad they didn't elevate it out 10 years! So many shows drag out and end up sucking as a issue...not this one.

Best show I never heard of. Solid End!
Warning: Spoilers
Fri Night Lights sat on my Netflix watch list for over a twelvemonth before I gave it a chance. What a daze! I'm expecting a show about a football coach and a lot of game clips, instead I am quickly introduced to one of the best family drama's of excellent quality I've ever watched! Rare to see a positive drama in any context in recent years, yet this testify portrays a loving couple and their family unit standing up for what is right in the face of a HIGHLY DYSFUNCTIONAL town with many dysfunctional people. But the story grows, and transitions in such an excellent way (excluding the abrupt end to season 2 I wasn't expecting - cut short by writers strike in 2008) the writing and story are splendid. Was casting 25 year old people as high school students a fleck much, yes, but non uncommon... and when doing so to portray exceptional high school athletes; I totally get it, some of these high school football players DO LOOK 25 and they needed actors to look and play the part. Makes me give that a good day, along with the exceptionally pretty girls as that is also common practice.
The important part was to me was how much of the story was graphic symbol based, portrayed real life situations that every bit a parent I've had to bargain with regardless of what I do because life happens to the states all. As a father of three daughters some of it made me LMBO as Eric Taylor has to (try) and hold his temper in bank check and deal with his girl growing up. I've said some of the things he said, and been in the aforementioned situations with some of my children so it really resonated with me as existent. The transition from the Panthers to the Lions was a scrap of a stretch as well with the offset two seasons not really indicating there was a "wrong side of the tracks" in Dillon, but the shows introduction sequence does show a town with a lot of shuttered businesses, so it is not a stretch that there would be a lot of struggling families. True in so many small towns in this country.
The best function was the shows ability to evolve and stay positive and life affirming in the effect this couple had on it and the mode they concluded it was very satisfying. One of the best quality family drama's I've seen.

Almost Perfect Sports Drama
I would've given this show a 10-Star review if it concluded later the first season. Heck, maybe if they stopped after the second or third. But, no. The writers continued the prove for a full five seasons while removing a majority of the principle actors for younger characters with new storylines.
Now, while the latter seasons weren't "bad" per se, but just seemed to lack the weight of the ones we had already experienced. Add together to that some not so subtle "All Due west Texans are bigoted rednecks" (even though the respected town mayor is an open, if not closeted, lesbian) and you lot detect yourself at times rolling your eyes.
That said, I believe the show ended EXACTLY every bit it should. And so, whether you lot like sports movies such as "Varsity Dejection (1999)" or Goggle box dramas like "This Is Us (2012)" you will certainly not want to miss watching this.

Real drama!
I simply loved Kyle Chandler every bit an thespian since when I was a kid from the kickoff fourth dimension I saw him perform on "Early on Edition". I'g actually glad that he won an Emmy for his office on "Friday Night Lights" as "Coach Taylor". Recently I started to sentinel "Friday Night Lights" and I but want to say that this is one of the best drama series that I've seen (and believe me when I say this 'cause I've watched lots of series)! It has every aspects of a real life story and it involves the viewer with the lives of all the characters. I wasn't a fan of American football before I watched this drama, only now I really bask watching football game games. I recommend watching this drama serial to anyone who enjoys sports and loves a very shut to existent life story.

The best high school football game drama ever!
This bear witness brings it all, drama on and off the field. It has strong character development, throughout season after season. It doesn't stick with 1 set of thespian, develops as the flavor go with unlike actors well developed story lines. It has just the correct amount of football that it'south not repetitive or used as a filler or easily predictable, but enough action that you lot feel the drama and force per unit area of the players on the field. This bear witness hooked me from the kickoff episode, till the last without slipping or sacrificing it's fan base with pointless episodes to fill their pockets with money.
Great series!

Television greatness.
A lot of people await down on tv set, a view justified in role by the stream of crappy reality shows. However, when washed well tv set is an art form that tin be equally great every bit a painting, a verse form, a novel, and much much better than a film. Fri Night Lights is 1 of the few shows that has done only that. While football is a big office of the show, it is so much more than just a sports show. The characters are all real. They feel like someone would meet in real life. This allows u.s. to feel connected to them. Over five seasons we get to fall in love with the small community of Dilon; we get to come across teenagers grow upward; we see people fall in and out of beloved; nosotros get to see how much of marriage involves requite and take; nosotros get to see people make difficult decisions; and all of it makes for a show that will stay in the hearts and minds of its viewers long later on it'south over.

Texas Forever
If yous want a prove where you lot tin truly connect to the characters and detect yourself interested in what's happening in their lives; look no farther. Forget most football for a second, this show is about friends, family and a community. The Taylor Family is at the center with Eric Taylor coaching the Dillon High Panthers. Coach lives and breathes football game equally his family tin adjure to as their livelihood is directly affected by it. We get to look at town in Texas where high school football game is as big (if non bigger) than professional sports. The town closes down on Friday nights to attend these games. The football team is sort of an escape for nearly people from their daily lives. The show was on for 5 seasons and like most teen/family unit dramas you bargain with more than than but the focus of the series. Fashion more is going on in this series from family troubles to small town politics. I did not watch the series when it was on the air. I watched all seasons over the past month or and so through Netflix and enjoyed every bit of it. I felt a trivial empty when the evidence was over because I was no longer seeing what was going on in the characters' lives. I realize it is just a TV show, but like high schoolhouse football game can be an escape for the people of Dillon; this show can be an escape for you lot.
Enjoy.

Incredible, one of the best shows on TV today...(S1 Review)
What a fantastic show. Yes, football is a huge aspect of this show, but in the manner that information technology's a backdrop rather than the focus for the virtually role. I like to remember of Friday Dark Lights as similar to The O.C. and at the same time, completely anti-O.C. The thing about this show is, it deals with some issues that you run into all the time on The O.C. - alcoholism, drugs, cheating, loftier school stuff...and yet, it comes off infinitely alee of The O.C.
Information technology'southward in the treatment, the way they execute the story lines where the deviation is, and that departure is MASSIVE. Information technology's the difference between a guilty-pleasance borderline lather and a sophisticated and earnestly dramatic slice of film-making. This evidence takes those elements that could exist turned into melodramatic/stereotypical clichés, that could be simplified into the escapist world of The O.C., and it manages to wring out every inch of raw emotion and drama out of them. It doesn't put its moments to waste material. I actually don't call back I ever saw a moment of honest, existent emotion in The O.C.. Friday Night Lights hands has three powerful and honest moments an episode, if not more.
As well the stuff that is like to The O.C., the serial also tackles more issues like racism, mental disorders, rape, and parent/child relationships.
In fact, the two episodes that bargain with racism are a great example of how FNL is so slap-up. It showcases a lot of viewpoints from different people within the show, and while it doesn't solve things completely (just like real life), it certainly shows more than insight into the bug than most shows or movies I can recollect of. If Crash won an Oscar for its simplified and stereotypical view of racists and racism, the complexity in the way FNL deals with the result should've made it the Best Flick of the century.
That's not to say the stories themselves are perfect. When I pace dorsum and expect back at the season of FNL, yeah, a lot of the story lines can seem at the end of the day overwrought and almost melodramatic. But that'due south the nature of the story lines. In the moments themselves, they are most always written believably with perfect dialogue and acting. There are a few moments in the series where a character's turnaround or modify of opinion might happen too drastically, but considering the 100 things they practice right in every episode, 1 small problem like that per episode is really not much in the long run. There is always a fine line betwixt melodrama and drama when dealing with shows about high school, and FNL hits the dramatic marking more than consistently frequently than nearly anything else on TV or on the silvery screen. The other thing is, like I said, FNL has a lot of raw and powerfully emotional moments in it. Information technology wears its eye on its sleeve and some people may mistake that for melodrama.
These are characters you treat, that are intensely real - yes, so the girls in the show may be hotter than most, the cast is skillful-looking, etc...but the root of the characters feels similar real people. The actors feel naturalistic, and the breadth of the bear witness is stunning. You lot experience similar this town actually exists somewhere. It's not simply virtually the high school kids either. This show is as nearly the parents. This is a bear witness about an entire town, a town that is in love with football, that lives for football because, well, quite merely, most of them accept nothing to look frontward to except for football. It really nails the closeness and intensity of living in a small boondocks, of everyone knowing everyone, etc.
If I had to use one word to describe what I think Friday Night Lights is about, it would exist - dreams. This comes to the surface towards the end of the season but its ever been in that location since the first. This show is about everyone's dreams, how and what anybody wants out of life, where they wanna go, where they seem themselves in the time to come. There are people who long for an escape from the town where there's non much of a future (Tyra), there are people with crushed dreams who have to rebuild (Jason and Lyla), there are people who are starting to live their dream (Matt), and at that place are people who are well on their mode to their dream (Smash)...the entire show is about the struggle to follow your dreams and what that is worth. It's i of the best shows on TV and the best prove that you lot're not watching.

i've never cared about sports in my life, but this is one of my favorite series Ever
I started watching this by blow (thought it was a documentary, lol) and later episode 2 when i figured out information technology wasn't, i was already hooked. Information technology'southward my favorite go-to feel-good program. While some of the loftier-school 'dear stories' are a little formulaic/contrived, there's nevertheless enough good football, acting, plot lines, and dialogue to keep it interesting, real, and touching, give it a chance, you won't exist disappointed - i hope. Enjoy!

I suppose nosotros meet what we want to meet in a series....
I have been enjoying the series and accept read some of the user reviews that consistently mention the dearest for football and character evolution in the series. But to me, the glaring life commentary is the fanaticism people accept for football peculiarly in Texas and the lengths our school systems will become to for information technology. People in the community will stick their necks out in a big fashion, providing a place for a player to live, making academics possible for athletes who may not take the ability or whatever it takes to brand football happen. One episode shows how other sports suffer neglect to the anointed football game god. Yes, right hither in Texas I take observed the importance of football across academics, other activities or other achievements. School districts spend huge bucks on stadiums, football equipment and bringing talent to the commune above all else. I was in marching ring all four years of high school so I was at every football game game. Information technology was a LOT of fun, but football just never really got my attention! For me, information technology all revolved around social aspects of ring and relationships with all these people. We even fabricated the statement, On Friday night, there will be a band show. It will take a football game before and afterwards! This series actually exposes the absurdity of the importance of the game. But, I doubt seriously that this occurs to other viewers.

Friday Nighttime Lights kicks Ass
Alert: Spoilers
Easily one of the best shows on television. It'due south real and dramatic at the same fourth dimension. The characters are amazing(Saracen and Riggins). The football game sets the setting of this town and their passion towards this young team of loftier school students.I thought i would lose involvement in the show after the commencement threes seasons(considering of some of the main characters leaving) but i have to say the quaternary flavor has been the best so far! Sports+ Drama+ True Life= Friday Night Lights. The characters face the aforementioned challenges that real life people face up everyday. This bear witness is perfect. I give this show a 10 considering of its amusement, drama and respect towards football. Watch this show its easily the best testify on television

Great Testify, Great Bandage
This show ticks all the boxes. The bandage is outstanding. The story cornball. I watch this unabridged series every few years and enjoy it more and more. It's about the characters and the families...it's an emotional experience. Information technology's not actually about the sports, non for me anyhow. It's a heartwarming series and a nice style to escape into the story. Estimate for yourself.
